NSF Supported STEP Program

The Appalachian State University STEP program was funded in 2008. The program provides up to 4 semesters of funding to freshmen, sophomores, and high-school interns. The program at Appalachian State University provides freshmen and sophomores in science and mathematics and high-school interns an opportunity to work in research clusters under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The program provides $350 scholarship per semester in the first year and upon satisfactory performance $500 per semester in the year after with additional funding for equipment and research instruments.



Applications for open scholarship positions are accepted at any time. Students are evaluated based on their research interest, availability of resources, and their schedule.
