Advising, Summer and Fall 2026

Advising

There are three different options for advising this semester.

  • Option 1: You can attend a group advising session. If you select this option, and don’t need to meet with me individually, please let me know – if not, you may get reminders from me about needing to sign up for advising! The link to the form to sign up is here: Group Advising Signup Form. Sessions include a 25 minute advising overview followed by time for one on one conversations. Current times are:

    • Tuesday (3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14) at 9am in ABH 310
    • Wednesday (3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15) at 4pm in ABH 310
    • Friday (3/20, 3/27, 4/10) at 2pm in ABH 311
  • Option 2: You can meet with me one on one. Please select two times that work for you from the available times given below and email them to me at [email protected]. I’ll add your name to the schedule below. I’ve allocated 20 minutes, which should be enough time for us to cover everything. I’ll also send you a calendar invite as a reminder.

  • Option 3: You can do both! If you want to attend the group advising session, that may answer all your questions, but you can also book a time with me. If you don’t end up needing to meet with me, you can cancel the meeting, but I’m happy to meet, so it’s up to you.

If you are graduating this semester and don’t need to meet with me, please let me know. If you don’t, you will probably receive multiple emails from me reminding you to set up an advising appointment.

Before We Meet

Please go to Degree Works and review your courses before the meeting. Degree Works provides you with the courses you need to complete your degree. You should also look at the information about the order in which you should take courses on our website. You should also look at the department’s Advising Corner, which includes some useful information, including the Undergraduate Advising FAQ Presentation. Note that this is still the presentation for Spring 2026 classes, but much of the other information (e.g., about DegreeWorks, or advice for new students) is still accurate, and the classes for this summer are included. Finally, make sure to look at the courses being offered.

Helpful Information

Here are some links that may be helpful as you are looking at registering for courses.

  • You can use the General Education Theme Selection Tool to change your GenEd themes, such as your Science Inquiry theme
  • The Registration and Classes page has links to other pages so you can search for classes, see a registration tutorial, and view registration-related policies
  • The Registrar’s Homepage includes links to search for classes both here and on UNC Online (although the latter appears to be quite limited now)

Meeting Times

Please select two meeting times and email me. I’ll respond with your appointment time and will also send you a calendar invite. I’ll also put your name here in your timeslot.
