Advising, Spring 2024

Hi everyone! There are three different options for advising this semester.

Option 1: You can attend a group advising session led by Dr. Fenwick, the Chair of the Department. If you are interested in this, please view the advising calendar where you will find times for group advising sessions. You can click on a session that works for you and find a link to a registration form where you can sign up. You can also view the registration form here and use that to sign up to a specific session. Sessions start with a half hour presentation, with an opportunity to discuss questions specific to your courses after this, so the entire session is an hour and a half (at the most). If you select this option, and don’t need to meet with me individually, please let me know – if not, you may get reminders from me about needing to sign up for advising!
Option 2: You can meet with me one on one. Please select two times that work for you from the available times given below and email them to me at [email protected]. I’ll add your name to the schedule below. I’ve allocated 20 minutes, which should be enough time for us to cover everything.
Option 3: You can do both! If you want to attend the group advising session, that may answer all your questions, but you can also book a time with me. If you don’t end up needing to meet with me, you can cancel the meeting, but I’m happy to meet, so it’s up to you.

Before We Meet

Please go to Degree Works and review your courses before the meeting. Degree Works provides you with the courses you need to complete your degree. You can find more information about the order in which you should take courses here: https://compsci.appstate.edu/academics/undergraduate-program/prerequisites. You should also look at the Undergraduate Advising FAQ for students that was recently posted by the department.
