Maria Agnesi
Maria Agnesi was born May 16, 1718 in
Milan and lived 81 years. She was
raised by her father, a math professor at the University of Bologna. Maria wrote Propositiones Philosophicae
and Analytical Institutions. She
was known for the witch of Agnesi.
Although Agnesi was an excellent mathematitian, it was not her main
ambition in life. Her main
ambition was to be a nun, but her father urged her to follow him in
mathematics.
