Maria Agnesi

Maria Agnesi was born May 16, 1718 in Milan and lived 81 years.  She was raised by her father, a math professor at the University of Bologna.  Maria wrote Propositiones Philosophicae and Analytical Institutions.  She was known for the witch of Agnesi.  Although Agnesi was an excellent mathematitian, it was not her main ambition in life.  Her main ambition was to be a nun, but her father urged her to follow him in mathematics.
