Adrien Marie Legendre — After reading one of his books, Germain and Legendre started a correspondence that lasted years and was very helpful to both.
Carl Friedrich Gauss — The most famous of Germain’s friends. She worked on mathematical problems with him for years. She also saved his life during a battle in Germany. For many years he thought she was a man because she hid her true identity from him.
