Objectives
A careful study of the techniques and applications of calculus and real analysis.
When appropriate, compare/connect material to the secondary curriculum.
Goals
Understand elementary analysis constructs and their properties.
Learn the basic proof techniques of real analysis.
Develop historical context for advanced calculus.
Topics
- Fundamentals: basic logic, sets, mappings, binary operations, relations. (Chapter 1)
- Sequences: convergence and limits. (Chapter 2)
- Limits of Functions: limits. (Chaper 3)
- Continuity: at a point, on an interval, uniform. (Chapter 4)
- Differentiation: functions and derivatives. (Chapter 5) as time allows
Prerequisite:
MAT 2110, Techniques of Proof
