Syllabus	Objectives A careful study of the techniques and applications of calculus and real analysis. When appropriate, compare/connect material to the secondary curriculum. Goals Understand elementary analysis constructs and their properties. Learn the basic proof techniques of real analysis. Develop historical context for advanced calculus. Topics Fundamentals: basic logic, sets, mappings, binary operations, relations. (Chapter 1) Sequences: convergence and limits. (Chapter 2) Limits of Functions: limits. (Chaper 3) Continuity: at a point, on an interval, uniform. (Chapter 4) Differentiation: functions and derivatives. (Chapter 5) as time allows Prerequisite:     MAT 2110, Techniques of Proof

Grading	Projects & Presentations   ≈   100 pt. Homework & Quizzes   ≈   100 pt. Proof Portfolio   ≈   50 pt. Midterm Exam   ≈   100 pt. Comprehensive Final Exam   [ 3:00 pm on Fri, April 3 ]   ≈   150 pt. Total    ≈   500 pt. (approx.) Grades will be based on an A≈90%, B≈80%, &c., scale.
Generic Comments	If you have trouble with a concept, come in for help. Don't wait to prove you don't understand on a quiz or test. Attendance is not required. However, the only way to learn is through active participation. Tests can be made up only if arranged before. Quizzes cannot be made up. A cell phone ringing during class will have dire consequences.
