Homework on Proof, Certainty, Success and Discoveries in Mathematics

  1. To turn in: Watch the SYNC TED video and then name at least two strengths and/or weaknesses of how Strogatz presented mathematics there, especially in reference to Paul Halmos' ideas of "How to talk mathematics."

  2. Next read on ASULearn:

To turn in: For each of the 3 readings, name at least two aspects from the reading that surprised you, that you found interesting, disagreed with, want to discuss during class, or had a question on (so you will have at least six total - two from each reading).

  3. If you did not already turn in the questions related to the The Proof then finish them up to turn in. We watched the NOVA version, but here is the BBC version as well as a text transcript of the NOVA version
