- Volume Decompositions
Use this figure (a square pyramid inside a cube) and Geoblocks or models that you build to give a plausible explanation of why the volume of a square pyramid is one-third the height times the base.

Can you find a similar decomposition relating a rectangular box and a triangular prism? Explain.

- A ribbon that is wrapped around a box can be removed without cutting,
stretching, or untying it (see below). Try to do so with an actual
ribbon on a box. Then model this situation geometrically and
explain why it works. It may be easier to explain first with a rectangle.

- Bring a baggy t-shirt to class that will fit over what you will wear.
