Experience

AppalHack is a free Hackathon for students to attend. This includes fun activites through out the night and free goodies! This year we are having an entire seperate day for sponsors and workshops so students can give their full attention to the hackathon and then the workshops! This is an amazing event to work in a team and create an amazing project!

Hackathon

This is going to a be 24 hour hackathon competition which provides students the opportunity to work in teams or by themselves, and challenge themselves with new technology. Any student can attend and try to make a project.

Prizes

Our judges will award prizes at the end of the event for certain categories. We encougage newcomers to use this opprounity to see some amazing projects and learn from them!

Rules


- No weapons, drugs or alcohol.

- Be kind and respectful to others! Respect everyone's boundaries, pronouns, etc.

- No harassment or bullying, NO SPAM

- No hate speech. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, -isms, etc. are NOT tolerated by any means and will result in an immediate ban. Microaggressions and race jokes are NOT tolerated.

- All coding and most asset work must be done during the event (March 23rd - 24th).

- UMLs, concept art, and to-do lists are allowed beforehand.

- The use of any AI is not permitted.

- At least one team member must be present for the demo fair. Prizes will only be awarded to teams that are present.

- All teams retain full ownership of what they create during AppalHack.

When and where is AppalHack?

This year Appalhack will be hosted at Anne Belk at Appalachian State University! The event will be held in the entire building.

Do I need prior experience?

No experience needed!

Who can participate?

AppalHack is open to all university students no matter the major.

How to get involved?

How much does the event cost?

Free to attend!

How does the competition work?

Teams of up to 4 will work on a project to be presented to the judges. This project is up to their imagantation. The judges will then select the best overall. Every project must be started and finished at the hackathon.

What do I get?

Participants will receive t-shirts and "swag" at the event. Students also have the chance of winning one of many prizes!

Does AppalHack offer travel reimbursement?

No, hackers will need to provide their own forms of transportation to and from the event.

Can I use old code?

No, all code must be made during the event. You may create umls, todo lists, and needed assets all before the event.
