Joseph Stein and Sarah Schwartz Stein

Joseph Stein and Sarah Schwartz Stein both came from the town of Ostrog in the Volhynia Gubernia (284 km. (170.4 miles) west of Kiev) in modern day Ukraine (Russia back then).
This webpage includes text transcriptions of boat, marriage, birth, military and census records for the family of Joseph and Sarah.
I have created separate webpages for Sarah Schwartz' siblings and father, and Joseph's parents and siblings.

Questions:
  • The family plot is in Beth David Cemetery Elmont, section BB Block 3, Plot "JJJ" account 6160: Sarah & Joseph Stein Family Circle [Bohemian American Israel Cong. - Map 162]
Beth David Elmont has an Ostrog Society section and so does Mount Zion. Joseph's parents were burried in Mount Zion.
  • What happened to Yetta's first husband Abe Bogatz and when did she marry her second one Nathan Horowitz?
  • Nathan Horowitz is a common name, so how to find more info? Norman thought he was burried in the Beth David Elmont Cemetery, which should hopefully list his father's name, and Joel thinks he died before his parents were married.
