    Feb 4 - Tues
    1. What would have happened if I had waited until today to buy the condo? Assume that the price of the condo stayed the same (which it wouldn't have!) What is the monthly payment if we use today's mortage rate of approximately 6.125%. How much would I pay in total? How much of that would be interest? (I obtained this rate at Bank of America Page by choosing Conventinal Fixed and looking at the 30 year rate.)
    2. If I can afford to save $100 per month for a $50,000 car, in an account compounding monthly at 8%, then how long will it take for me to save up? Setup the formula for the problem but do not solve. If I told you that the answer was approximately 18.38 years would that make sense? Show work to explain why.
    3. What will my monthly payment be if I take out a car loan at 8% compounded monthly for $50,000 for 18.38 years?
    4. Web based problems need to use Internet Explorer . Be sure to show work for EVERY entry on the same piece of paper as the rest of your homework: Web Problem 1     Web Problem 2 Be sure that you explain how each calculation is completed. Also note that row 0 of the table at the bottom is not supposed to be filled in - fill in rows 1 and 2.

    1. You will need to stop by my office hours anytime before this, introduce yourself, and sit down and talk with me for a few minutes. Review lump sum, periodic payment and loan payment formulas and philosophy of formulation. Review "how much we put in" and "total interest" calculations. Be able to match a problem to the correct formula, and also match a problem to the correct answer using only common sense (units of the answer and comparison with other problems). You may bring a "cheat sheet" with you.
